Nancy's Book

Retired librarian outlines progress at creating a book by hand. Making paper, learning how to sew and bind, writing text, printing text and illustrations are all part of the process. There are diversions, however, so the work does not advance very rapidly.

About Me

Bookmaker
I am a retired librarian who is beginning a project of creating a book: making the paper, writing it, printing it, binding it and making a cover. It seemed like fun to have a blog to follow my progress.

Making Paper

Making Paper
After couching the wet paper onto absorbent fabric, I can lift it off and place it on a flat surface to dry.

Drying Paper

Drying Paper
I am using felt and a rolling pin to absorb the water from the paper I made. This was my first trial. I put flower petals in some of the paper.
